Nestled at an altitude of 1200 meters, the Gubuakak Coffee Farm is where tradition meets innovation, and the result is a coffee experience like no other.
A Legacy of Adaptation
For years, the farmers of Meishan have nurtured tea plants in this fertile land. However, recognizing the growing global appreciation for high-quality Taiwan coffee, these dedicated farmers decided to diversify. Over the past decade, they have worked tirelessly to extend their plantations and cultivate coffee, collaborating with both local and international experts to perfect their craft.
Cultivating Perfection
At Gubuakak Coffee Farm, the journey from bean to cup begins with the Arabica SL-34 varietal. These beans are sun-dried to perfection, capturing the unique essence of the Meishan terroir. This process is a labor of love, reflecting the farmers' deep connection to their land and their relentless pursuit of excellence.
Innovation in Every Bean
The Gubuakak family doesn’t just grow coffee; they pioneer new methods of preparation. From honey washing to water washing and natural air drying, they experiment with various techniques to bring out the best in their beans. This innovative spirit ensures that every batch of coffee is a testament to their dedication and expertise.
Recognized Excellence
Despite only diversifying to coffee seven years ago, the Gubuakak Coffee Farm’s initial planting of 300 trees has yielded remarkable results. Their beans have already garnered recognition in competitions, spurring them to continue experimenting with different varietals. Their success is a beacon of what is possible when tradition and innovation converge.
A Symphony of Flavours
For this batch, we are roasting their honey-washed SL-34 beans to a light roast. The result is a coffee that embodies the essence of Taiwan high mountain coffee. With tasting notes of apple, wine, orange, and vanilla, each sip transports you to the heart of Meishan. This coffee evokes the rich, layered experience of enjoying a Black Forest gateau, with a delightful blend of chocolate and vanilla flavours topped with fruity notes.
